High impact with AI
How can we bring the work of DKB – a digital bank with no branches or ATMs of its own – to life in a physical space? Through an interactive, AI-supported dialogue space that demonstrates how responsible action makes a difference. The DKB Experience Hub.
The task
Developing a visitor centre as an open space for inspiration and experience on the new campus in Berlin’s Nordhafen. Here, DKB aims to bring its digital heart and the secure use of AI to life through a personalised, tailored journey.
The idea
A bank that acts responsibly makes a difference: by financing renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, or the construction of childcare centres and housing.
This impact is felt by retail customers: through intelligent digital account management, intuitive access and apps, and the responsible and bold use of artificial intelligence in customer service. We tell these stories of impact and link them to the bank’s work and its history. Personalised, with a focus on visitors’ individual needs – supported by AI. The journey is not a linear path, but a personal journey that can be explored freely.
The experience
Our minimalist scenography reflects the essence and operations of the tech bank. Digital, light, dynamic, electrifying. All the lines of the exhibition architecture converge on the multi-touch table at the centre. These lines of energy visualise both the impact of DKB and the external influences on the bank.
At the table, each visitor personalises their avatar. The 3D-printed object becomes a digital avatar, representing the visitor’s own perspective. The DKB AI uses the selected interests and values to tailor content to individual needs and priorities. These impact stories, generated individually in real time, invite visitors to immerse themselves in the world of DKB.
Eight funnel-shaped stations arranged around the centre organise this experience. They focus on the bank’s key themes: these include sustainability, digital banking and the various areas of activity.
Through their game characters, visitors contribute their own perspectives and set the thematic priorities. This form of participation is effective, as real-time sentiment snapshots make it visible to everyone. On the map of Germany, visitors can take virtual tours of DKB’s regional branches via short, collaboratively produced video clips or virtual video calls that connect the branches live. In the cosy audio lounge, DKB presents its history in a format of the visitor’s choice: as a podcast, a crime thriller, a novel or a documentary. An opinion poll and a personalised summary round off the tour. As a parting gift, visitors receive a QR code to download and share a digital version of their avatar.
In detail
We convey almost all information via digital interfaces – with the exception of a few calls to action.
The entire experience offers accessible features through selectable options such as higher contrast or text-to-speech. All stations are wheelchair accessible.
We generate the visuals in real time using AI-powered filters. Illustrative imagery and the text displayed are compiled and formulated from a curated data pool using DKB’s own LLM.
Through the sparing use of printed graphics, storytelling and gameplay can keep pace with content development and technical progress. This ensures the experience remains cutting-edge, multimedia-rich, profound in content and technologically ready for tomorrow, without being overwhelming.
